Florida is a state that has a huge problem with drug trafficking, especially as a main thoroughfare for cocaine and heroin to other parts of the country. Lake Worth International Airport is a major entry point for heroin from South America. Florida also leads the country in ecstasy seizures.
Cocaine is easily available in large amounts in Florida. The link between crack cocaine and violent crime is a big problem across the state. Methamphetamine is a concern, particularly in central Florida. Secret labs tend to be small, quick cook labs, which produce an average of between 1 ½ and 2 ounces of methamphetamine per batch. Ecstasy and GHB are a problem, especially in the areas with colleges and universities.
